History of the Monday Musical Club of Tillamook

The Monday Musical Club of Tillamook (MMCT) was formed on October 10, 1920 when Mrs. Edwin E. Koch, a music teacher in Tillamook, Oregon, invited a group of ladies to her home for the purpose of studying the “history of music”.

The original charter members of 1920-1921 were: Mrs. A.G. Beals, Mrs. Fred Burton, Mrs. John Carroll, Mrs. John Cook, Mrs. C.J. Edwards, Mrs. Fred Esch, Miss Theresa Gaylord, Mrs. Henry Heisel, Mrs. J.C. Holden, Miss Marie Holden, Mrs. Edwin E. Koch, Mrs. David Kuratli, Mrs. R.A. Leonard, Mrs. Robert McGrath, Mrs. Robert Myers, Mrs. Walter Petteys, Mrs. Max Schultz, Mrs. F.D. Small, Mrs. A.W. Turnbull and Mrs. Garrett H. Ward.

Mrs. Koch was the first president and was serving at the time MMCT was admitted to the National Federation of Music Clubs in 1923.

In 1994 MMCT took on the challenge of bringing the Oregon Symphony to Tillamook County which led to the Cultural Events Series 1994-2019.  All of the musicians that were part of the Series are listed on the Past Cultural Events page.  We thank Marianne Gienger for being the driving force behind this 25 year Series.  We hope to continue this Series in the future.

The Monday Musical Club of Tillamook is part of the Oregon Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC), and the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC). Of the many music clubs in America, the MMCT is one of two clubs that includes community members to the club membership and meets on a regular basis to present community programs.

We welcome teachers, performers and music lovers to join us!
